Mystic String Quartet Plays Music from Ukraine

Give Now to Support Ukraine Relief Effort

The Mystic String Quartet will be performing at the Meeting House at the center of Olde Mistick Village on May 22, from 2-4 pm.   We hope you will come, enjoy the music, and support the Ukraine relief effort through a donation to Mercy Corps.  The concert is free,  open to the public, and casual.  Come for all or part of the program.  Enjoy a post concert ice cream or cocktail at one of Olde Mistick Village's many venues.  Bring the kids to introduce them to the string quartet.  But most important, give generously, whether or not you attend the concert.

About the Mystic String Quartet

We are amateur musicians who perform in the community for the love of music.  Originally, named the Mystic Quarantette, we have been playing together as a quartet since the lockdown of 2020.  Since then we have received grant funding from Associated Chamber Music Players, received coaching from violinist/violist Jesse Holstein (Brown University, Community MusicWorks, Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music, New Bedford Symphony Orchestra) and performed in multiple venues in Mystic and New London.

Musicians often respond to humanitarian crises with music.   Music expresses deep humanitarian bonds of grief, pathos, joy and hope across cultures and time.  Our program features Ukrainian, Estonian and Czech classical composers.

About Mercy Corps

We chose Mercy Corps as the beneficiary for our concert because it is a highly respected and top-rated charity.  It is already on the ground in Ukraine, Romania and Poland and it has deep expertise and capacity to respond to crises with such services as food, shelter, water, sanitation and information.  It is also a global leader in bridging the divide between emergency response and longer-term recovery.

Thank you for your support and donations.  We hope to see you at our concert!
