One Love, One Heart For South Sudan

August 7, 2017

Give Now

This is a man-made famine that should not have to happen in the first place.  My people are dying from and lack of food and clean drinking water.  This is painful for me.  It brings back trauma and horrible memories.  My heart hurts for the millions of other South Sudanese who must live through this war and hunger.

Through my personal anguish, frustration, and disappointment, I am driven to do all I can to support the people of South Sudan.  I cannot idly stand by while I am safe in the greatest country on Earth.  It does affect me though because the majority of my family members are still in South Sudan.  I can’t idly stand by and do nothing because my conscience will not allow me.  God will not allow me to enjoy my life and just watch my fellow human beings suffer while I look the other way.

In the words of the gospel, I truly believe that we are our brothers and sisters keepers.  In the world of Saint Mathew 25:35 - For I was an hungered, and you gave me meat: I was thirsty, and you gave me drink: I was a stranger, and you took me in: This was the United States for me and my family.  The great people of America took my family and me in when we were in need.  Now as an American myself, I want to do the same thing for the people of South Sudan.  By putting our resources together we can save the lives of our brothers and sisters whom are eating grass to try and survive this man-made famine. Which the children’s themselves are lucky to survive if at all.  The greatness of the United States lies not only in the promise of its founding documents but also in the generosity of its people.“Loving thy neighbor extends beyond geography. This is the cornerstone that ties all of us together as human being no matter where we are from. We all must do more to help this crisis". It's the right thing to do.

"This is truly a test for humanity whether it be South Sudan, Syria, Somalia, and Yemen. We have so much power as a people to help each other, empower each other, to strengthen those bonds that tie humanity together. We cannot just sit idly by"(Booker). Because just like Dr. King said, "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere". God requires us to do something in the face of darkness.

Together we can shine a light where none of it is found. I know this from first-hand experience, this in my view is the American pride. This is what makes us a great nation and people. I hope you can join me in my efforts in trying to shine a light on this catastrophe that is still unfolding in South Sudan which is it’s getting worse by the day. Your donations and money can make a different.  Thank you so much for your generosity and caring. God bless you!

Sincerely,
